A reminder to us all that "The sole purpose of government is to take away our rights!"
And a growing number of states are in effect doing that to affiliate programs with their "long-arm statutes" for collecting sales tax based upon the residency of a business's affiliates. A lot of the larger operators will probably adapt and become an agent of the state tax collectors, but a lot of the small operators will probably determine that the hassle is not worth the small amount of profit.
We think that the first entrepreneur who figures out how to circumvent these "long-arm" statutes will be the next huge internet success. Instead of direct revenue-sharing with affiliates being the trigger to taxation, maybe another method of sharing the pie so to speak would do that. Right now, if various owners of a corporation want to be able to withdraw their individual share of the profits of a corporation that is not a Sub S corporation, the profits are taxed to the corporation and then taxed again as dividends to the shareholders. But owners of a coop are treated very differently under the tax laws so as not to be subject to double taxation. Maybe a coop structure could be developed that would be successful in avoiding the states' "long-arm statutes" for collecting sales tax on sales initiated in other states via existing affiliate programs. Time to brainstorm this one!
Rumor has it that Stumbleupon is growing faster than Facebook...keep an eye on this one!
While Ben Bernanke continues his stance of keeping his head firmly placed where the sun does not shine, trying to pretend that there is no inflation, wholesale food commodity prices & oil prices are skyrocketing. It is rumored that some OPEC advisors expect oil to reach $300 if the unrest in Saudi Arabia gets worse. And since Bernanke has never had a real job, he most likely doesn't have a clue what to do about China and some European centreal banks starting to raise interest rates, while Bernanke's printing press is printing dollars faster than we are drilling for oil...no wonder the moron never had a real job before he became Fedzilla.
